He is a prominent Iraqi academic and one of the most recognized specialists in Methods of Teaching History. Born in Iraq in 1963, he earned his Bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Baghdad – College of Education Ibn Rushd in 1988. He continued his academic journey at the same university, where he obtained a Master’s degree in 2000, focusing on the impact of educational aids on student achievement. In 2003, he was awarded a Ph.D. in Methods of Teaching History, with a dissertation examining the effect of three instructional approaches on achievement and attitude development.
Dr. Al Hasnawy’s academic and educational contributions have expanded since the early 1990s. In 2014, he earned the title of Assistant Professor, and in 2021, he was promoted to the rank of Full Professor at the University of Baghdad. He has also served as Assistant Director of the Karbala Center at the Open Educational College, contributing to the development of academic and administrative structures within Iraqi higher education institutions.
Throughout his career, Dr. Al Hasnawy has supervised and evaluated more than 15 master’s theses at Iraqi and British universities. He has served on discussion and defense committees for postgraduate students at Baghdad and Karbala universities and is known for his precision in research evaluation. His scholarly presence extends beyond national borders, with participation in scientific conferences in Iraq, Turkey, and Jordan.
He has published numerous peer-reviewed research articles in educational journals, focusing on topics such as brainstorming techniques, critical thinking, modern teaching strategies, and active learning methodologies. Among his most notable published books are:

Dr. Al Hasnawy has also pursued professional development internationally. He holds multiple international certificates from Kingston College of Graduate Studies and Business Administration (UK) in training programs such as TOT (Training of Trainers), professional development, and leadership. He is an accredited international trainer in the Middle East and North Africa region.
Additionally, Dr. Al-Hasnawi serves as Vice President of the Association of Educational Academics in Karbala and is an active member of the Iraqi Teachers Syndicate. He has completed several advanced training programs, including a course on strategic planning using the Balanced Scorecard in Jordan, and administrative development and effective communication in Turkey.
Dr. Al Hasnawy has successfully combined theoretical academic work with practical field expertise. He has significantly contributed to the development of history education in Iraq and remains one of the leading voices advocating for modernizing educational curricula and enhancing the professional skills of teachers and researchers in the field of education.
