Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the role of artificial intelligence in enhancing decision making effectiveness within government institutions in the Sultanate of Oman. The study adopted the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT2) as a theoretical framework to examine the factors influencing the adoption and utilization of artificial intelligence technologies in the public sector. Specifically, the research explored nine key dimensions associated with technology acceptance and use, including performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, facilitating conditions, hedonic motivation, price value, habit, behavioral intention, and actual use behavior .The study sample comprised 302 employees working in various Omani government institutions. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire developed to assess the identified dimensions and their relationship with decision making effectiveness. The collected data were analyzed using a range of statistical techniques, including correlation analysis and simple regression analysis, to examine the relationships among variables and test the proposed research hypotheses. The findings provide empirical evidence regarding the contribution of artificial intelligence technologies to improving the quality, accuracy, and effectiveness of decision-making processes in government institutions. Furthermore, the results offer valuable insights into the factors that facilitate or hinder the acceptance and use of artificial intelligence, thereby contributing to a deeper understanding of technology adoption within the public sector and supporting the development of strategies for the successful implementation of artificial intelligence driven initiatives in governmental organizations.
