Abstract

The scientific method forms the foundation of sociological research, providing effective tools for data collection, classification, and analysis in both theoretical and field research. Research methodology plays a crucial role in uncovering truths and interpreting various aspects of social phenomena. However, previous studies suggest that sociology faces a methodological crisis, impacting its ability to interpret reality accurately. This study aims to introduce the origins and development of social sciences, identify the scientific method and its epistemological underpinnings, and highlight the significance of methodological diversity in social research. The importance of study lies in addressing the problematic nature of methods in the social sciences and filling the gap in research concerning methodological issues in sociology, and also drawing the attention of researchers and graduate students to the importance of addressing the issue of methodology in sociology in their future research. To answer the questions of study and obtain abundant and in-depth information, the researchers rely on the qualitative descriptive-analytical approach, involving the review and analysis of relevant literature and books, to reach to the results recommendations of the study. This method is chosen for its appropriateness in achieving the study's objectives.
