Abstract
The Ministry of Education in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan has taken rapid steps to train physical education teachers in line with the requirements of the digital age, ensuring their ability to meet the demands of teaching and learning in the 21st century. Additionally, the Ministry has adopted modern curricula that enable students to acquire both theoretical and practical knowledge and concepts in the field of physical education.
Based on the researchers’ experience in teaching physical education and their ongoing observation of the educational environment in both public and private schools, it has been noted that, despite the adoption of new curricula, physical education teachers often demonstrate a deficiency in effectively integrating digital technology in a manner that aligns with the instructional requirements of the field.
This study aimed to identify the extent to which physical education teachers apply digital competencies in teaching the new curricula from their own perspectives in schools in the capital city of Amman. It also sought to examine differences in the level of digital competency application based on the variables of school type and educational stage across Amman. The researchers employed a descriptive survey method, which is appropriate for the nature of the study.
