The Role of Information Sharing in the Effectiveness of Supply Chains A Field Study on the Saudi Ministry of Health

Abstract

        This thesis aimed to identify the role of information sharing in the effectiveness of supply chains in the Ministry of Health. This is done by answering the following questions: To what extent is information shared in the Saudi Ministry of Health? What is the effectiveness of supply chains in the Saudi Ministry of Health? What is the role of information sharing in the effectiveness of supply chains in the Saudi Ministry of Health? To achieve the objectives of the thesis, a questionnaire was designed containing (31) points. The validity of the questionnaire was verified by arbitration and its reliability was calculated using Cronbach’s alpha coefficient. The study sample consisted of a group of health affairs workers, numbering (200) male and female employees, and after applying the questionnaire, the data was presented and processed. Statistically using means, standard deviations, percentages, and one-way analysis of variance, the results of the research showed the following:


The Ministry shares the expected demand with its supply chain parties. The Ministry of Health's supply chain is characterized by the ability to reduce costs. The supply chain is being developed according to the technology expansion strategy. The effectiveness of supply chain management depends largely on the combined use of information systems. Supply chain management practices rely heavily on the use of shared information systems from the Ministry of Health. We use information sharing to improve the efficiency of various supply chain procedures. It is used to improve all aspects of supply chain management quickly and efficiently, improving quality and service and potentially achieving cost savings. Sharing supply chain information helps reduce costs.
